It turned out that it was actually a good comment because I had to work it out. I've researched and recosted my product. It was by choice, that during my start-up year, I didn't include all my hours worked on my bags. Apparently I NEED to take that into consideration. If had someone else do it for me, I would pay them. So why not pay myself. I work 40+ hours a week on my day job and have to squeeze in hours from my early mornings or late nights to work on my bags. I love and enjoy what I do. Receiving complements on my work is a "BIG" deal. But even just the idea of having someone carry my creation is a "BIGGER" deal to me. I love what I do, and I want to continue what I'm doing.
For the past year, it was a trial period for me and my work. I needed to introduce my product to the market and wanted to receive feedback from people during this development. This time, I know that I am more confident with my products, and want to raise my bar a little. With this improvement, there are corresponding costs incurred. There will be a slight increase in my retail price but I'm still willing to negotiate prices on special quantity orders.
This Spring 2008, I will launch my new and improved hobo. I strongly believe that more people will appreciate and actually consider buying it, not because it is cheap, but because they really liked it and it is worth every penny.
The New and Improved Tie Strap Reversible Hobo will be available in April 2008 on Etsy.
